Brief Answer:
Sazo more efficacious to HCQ.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir.

I understand your query and concern.

In my perspective Sazo has better efficacy to HCQ

Sulfasalazine (SSZ)/sazo is indicated for the treatment of patients with RA who have had an inadequate response to salicylates or other NSAIDs. It acts BOTH locally as wells systematically to decrease inflammatory response.

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is approved for the treatment of both acute or chronic RA.

Overall for better outcome ,Triple therapy with Folitrax+HCQ+Sazo has excellent efficacy than individual drugs in your wife's case.

Thank you

Thank you doctor for your prompt reply. One more suggestion is sought from you please.

My wife is taking SAZO (2 gram) per day. As per your suggestion to mix up both Sazo and HCQ – should I cut 1 gram Sazo and add HCQ (1 g) thereby combining Sazo and HCQ .
If it is done then the per day medicine intake will be –
     * Sazo (1 gram) + HCQ (1gram) with Folitrax.
Please let me know if the above combination* will be ok. PLEASE ADVISE.

Brief Answer:
Sazo 1g/d+HCQ 200 mg/d+Folitrax is advisable.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,

I understand your concern.

I advise you to regulate the following doses.

Sazo 1 gm/ day + HCQ 200 mg/d +Folitrax.

Its always better to start with 200 mg/d of HCQ because risk of eye damage exists with higher doses (>400 mg/d).

So I advise you to get an eye check up for every 6 months.

Post your further queries if any,

Thank you.
