Suggest Remedies For Severe Stomach Pain At Night

Posted on Thu, 16 Jun 2016
Question: Hi Doctor,
My Left leg toe fractured in early February 2016. The local doctor put a POP mask for leg and advised a rest for three months. I recovered almost 90% now. But during these three months, i consumed a lot of Red meat, Bone soup, Bread, butter, cheese, Eggs to recover fast. I preferred not to walk much to give rest to my leg. I consumed very less water to avoid going to wash room frequently as my leg is not very supportive. Now from the past one week i am facing severe stomach ache (not abdomen) only during night time. I am unable to do free-motion. I am trying to eat bananas much but, result is poor. Kindly suggest me a solution.

Non pharmacological measures may be helpful

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome
I have gone through your query.
I would suggest few measures that will be beneficial.

A. Consume plenty of water. Keep a water bottle on the working desk and keep sipping water on and off as required. I also advise to drink a glass of water an hour before and after food to make sure of intake of adequate water.

B. Avoid excess consumption of tea/ coffee/ hydrogenated drinks.
C. Avoid smoking and alcohol, if any.

D. Antacids like Digene or Gelusil syp, 2tsp in 50ml of water three to four times a day half an hour before food.
You can also take capsule omeprazole 20 mg once daily empty stomach, before breakfast for a week.

E. Maintain a gap of atleast 2 hrs in between dinner and going to bed.
F. Avoid spicy and oily food for few days till the symptoms are resolved.
G. Avoid or reduce the intake of meat, dairy products, and add more fiber to your diet. Eat lots salads, vegetables, fresh fruits,
H. You can take probiotics like Sporolac or Ecobion which will be beneficial and you can take curd.
I. Avoid gas producing foods like peas, cabbage, legumes, etc. Eat light meals prepared under hygienic conditions. Avoid eating fast and talking while eating.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.
