Suggest Remedies For Pain And Tingling Sensation On The Toes

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2016
Question: Hi,
This is XXXX. 27year old male. For over a month now, i have been experiencing numbeness on the side of each of my big toes. The numbness is not very severe but is very slight. It is not causing any pain or tingling sensation. I am able to feel the touch welland I am able to walk fine but the side of both toes definitely feel different from the other sides of the respective toes. I started experiencing this after a 3 hour long drive wearing some what tight shoes. I generally exert pressure on the accelerator and clutch(manual transmission) using my big toes only. I intially thought that this could have caused the problem as the feeling started exactly after the incident for both the toes. But wud an injury like pinched nerve take a month to heal completely? Are there any over the counter medications that i can try out to get rid of this irritating sensation? When is there a dire need to see the doctor?

Your advise is much appreciated.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Neuropathy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for the post here.
Well the new symptom of tingling and numbness is definitely as a result of irritation of the nerve supplying the structures of the great toe.
Whether the irritation is because of injury or deficiency of vitamin or crampy front foot of the shoe has to be ascertained.
But cramp shoe esp pointed shoe should be avoided. You should change to a foot wear which has wide foreend. This gives the gap for the great toe to move. Else the two nerves would impinge to cause such symptoms.
You can take TAB MECONERVE 500, one tablet twice a day after meal for one month.
These are the two things I suggest for now.
Please get back to me after one month.

Hi thanks for your response. I still have the following queries:

1) Is it normal for an injury to take more than one month to heal? My numbness is not so severe. Sometimes i dont even feel that something is numb. But at certain times esp early in the mornings, i feel slight numbness.
2) How to determine if it is a vitamin deficiency? Can you please enunciate any other symptoms for the vitamin deficiency. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Vitamin deficiency

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

Sorry for delay.
Are you sure you had injury? Yes injuries may take time to heal and a lot of factors.
You can get a Vitamin serum levels. B 12 some times can be the only symptom is numbness.
Since it is on both sides we should think of generalized causes like Vitamin Deficiency.

I think this is injury because i started to experience this only after a 3 hour long drive. As i mentioned, i applied continued pressure with my big toes on clutch and accelerator for 3 hours. Vitimin deficiency is worrying as it might be a result of someother underlying health issue right Should i see a doctor??

Brief Answer:
You may see a doctor

Detailed Answer:
Sir,

If you are very sure about the injury due to pressure. You may see a local doctor Orthopedic surgeon. Let him understand if the nerve is impinged. He can test the sensory and motor functions.
A right prescription can take the worry away.
