Suggest Remedies For Frequent Mouth Ulcers

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Sep 2016
Question: I have had a red ring around my tongue from the middle to the tip. I have had frequent mouth ulcers and on my tongue. I do know I can not eat anything with acid such as fruit, tomatoes and if I do cook spaghetti sauce I will use sugar to cut the acid and that seems to work. I use a topical liquid to put on my tongue at night. Lately it feels like I have a hair in my throat that won't go away. I tried everything to get rid of it but realized that it must not be a hair. It's driving me crazy!

Brief Answer:
Expert consultation/ & specific treatment of cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for the query under Health acre magic . I have read & understood your concern.
There are various causes for tongue complaints.. but looking at your specific symptoms of redness & sensitivity to acidic / spicy food & age.. I feel the cause of your repeated mouth ulcers could be-
- Canker sore or Apthous ulcer.. which is caused by psychological stress & anxiety. Apart from Management of local lesion with soothers like Glycerin Borax stress management is important in such cases
- Vitamin deficiency- Folic acid or vitamin B12 deficiency can cause such an ulcer. This can happen from Dietary deficiency/ lack of absorption/ disturbed gastrointestinal function causing destruction of naturally present Bacilli in GI tract ..which are responsible for natural synthesis of B complex in our body .
The problem here is like constipation/ bowel infections or infestations/ IBS/ auto immune diseases like Crohn's disease .
Management includes treatment of basic cause along with folic acid & B12 supplementation & local management .
- Viral infection.. can cause red tongue lesion ... here management of viral infection with oral drug/ local antiviral ointment becomes necessary.
- Bad oral hygiene/ teeth problems like gingivitis, pyorrhea can cause secondary infection of tongue..Tobacco chewing, tongue chewing are another causes where consultation of a dentist & specific management with management of local lesion is needful.
* In short frequent tongue ulcers needs care & concern ( I am happy you have it )& a family physician's advise & needful investigations followed by specific management of cause & local management of ulcer form a way to get rid of the trouble sum complaint.
I hope the answer was both informative & useful for you. Any follow up query you have I would be happy to help.
