Question: I've had this on my chin for a few months, and I was shaving and it cut it open. Curious if it's something to worry about or get checked out.

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same. I have seen the uploaded images.
You seem to have developed a chronic folliculitis lesion.
You need to keep the affected area clean and dry.
Apply a topical antibiotic cream like mupirocin over the affected area twice daily .
You might need a course of oral antibiotics if the lesion tends to persist or increase
