Consultation- There are medications that treat paranoia very well

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks very much for your question.

It sounds like you are describing some degree of paranoia that people are checking up on you, following you, or know things about you that they couldn't possibly know. This could be related to a psychotic illness. It might not be, but it could. This would require a more comprehensive evaluation, which I am happy to do at my private link below.

There are medications that treat paranoia very well. Risperdal or Zyprexa are examples of these, and ones I use frequently. If you do have a psychotic illness, these medications can help you.

hello, I was at Mayo clinic in 1979 admitted to St Marys hospital Neurology ward for 2 weeks .They said it was Physicotic neurosis and they put me on Melerel. It worked good for years and finally went off it.The only bad thing was it made me sleepy .I had another bad spot and went on Resperidone for a while .I thought I could do without it so went off it .Next I saw a specialist in NZ .He put me on Effexor 300 mg and then added Resperidone 1mg and then has added Lithium 150 mg .I will leave this now as have to go out to Church.
I am not really well in my mind at the moment although am fulfilling my daily responsibilities,
Regards

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I strongly recommend you continue taking risperidone, and in fact the dose should be increased to at least 1mg twice a day, ideally higher (as high as 3mg twice a day) until your symptoms are gone.

Remember, when you are finished, rate the answer 5 stars and close the answer please!

Hello DR, Sorry I was a bit forgetful .To get it right, Mayo said that it was post Traumatic Neurosis (Dec,1980).I had had head injuries, in New Zealand at the age 18yrs , Oct 1978.Prior to this accident I had a dramatic turn-around in life, I have found a Savour in Jesus .I do recognise I have a medical problem that I need treatment for. A Dr that treated returned servicemen says , I have long standing psychosis. My current psychiatrist in Auckland says it is OCD, with mood swings. That is why I take a variety of drugs that are listed as opposed to each other.
The main things are that at the moment I don't feel well in my mind .As I said friends seem to be in a communication line about me or even other people .I have mood swings. I aren't violent I mean physically .I get at times cross with most people although mostly it is happy then sad .That happens after I have this feeling they are getting at me again.
My wife understands and supports me and has helped set this out more clearly.
Regards

Hi XXXXXXX

I'm sticking with my original recommendation that you continue with Risperdal and increase the dose. Risperdal functions as an anti-paranoia medication, and also functions as a mood stabilizer and antidepressant. It should contribute to the treatment of all the problems you describe.
