Brief Answer:
Saline nasal washes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Nasal polyps arise due to medical disease. They tend to recur after surgery. Hence the treatment that you are taking is important to prevent recurrence.

2. Ideally you should repeat a plain CT PNS Scan. If you can upload images of the pre and post op scans, I will be able to give you an accurate assessment.

3. As far as home remedies are concerned, use a saline nasal wash such as Saltnase/ Netiwash regularly.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Brief Answer:
Use ready made solution instead.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Normal household salt contains anti - caking agents. It is also difficult to get the exact isotonic salinity in home made salline solutions.

2. Now there are many brands of medical grade saline solutions available. These are better to use.

3. Alkaline nasal douching always helps.

4. Any foodstuff that you are allergic to can increase mucus production. Hence if you are aware of any such trigger foods you can avoid them.

5. Certain foods such as dairy products, red meat, processed meats, wheat , gluten, soya, bananas, potatoes, caffeine, excess sugar and so on are known to increase mucus production in most people. Certain foods like vegetables, olive oil are know to decrease mucus production.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Saltnase, netiwash. Avoid castor oil in the nose. CT PNS Scan images.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. As mentioned in my first answer, try Saltnase (Nulife), Netiwash or Nasowash (to be launched by Cipla).

2. Putting castor oil in the nose is not prescribed for reducing nasal polyps. There is no harm in trying it out if it suits you, however do not use it for a long term as oil droplets can end up in the lungs.

3. You can explore Balloon Sinuplasty and Office based Micro-debrider polypectomy if the polyps are not responding to steroids. The CT PNS scans are important in the treatment planning. Upload the CT Scan images (pre and post-op) ether here or directly at bit.ly/Dr-Sumit-Bhatti

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
