Question: I am trying to reduce dosage of Gabapentin and am experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Physician has recommended Lyrica, but it has the same side effects as Gabapentin. DX is primarily Fibromyalgia, which has been severe in that pain has been intolerable. I would love to explore a drug that does not include the side effects of Lyrica and Gabapentin - Thank you. I can understand your concern.

In fibromyalgia other recommended medicines are duloxetine (cymbalta), desvenlafaxine (pristiq) or flupirtine maleate. Cymbalta or pristiq should be stopped gradually to prevent drug discontinuation symptoms. Either of these there or combination will be useful.
You can discuss with your treating doctor and change the treatment.
