Suffer Fever. Given Paracetamol. No Use. Suffer Running Nose And Developed Cough. What Should I Do?

Question: Hello dr my son got fever on 18th mid night 12 and gave him paracetamol 250mg at 12 n 4.30 but fever not reduced
Then v went to pead.dr nd gave dolo m and gave curtain syrup for running nose
Fever was ther for 2days
Now no fever
Still running nose z ther
From morning he developed cough
Its frequent
Dry like
Now I need any prescription for cough

Your child is had symptoms of respiratory infection which is mostly viral in nature and settles in few days.

This is good that fever has settled now.

Regarding running nose and cough it will take couple of days to settle.

Physical examination will be required to look for type of cough.

In case such patient will come to my clinic and on examination it is dry cough I will prescribe combination of dextromethorphan(cough suppresant) and chlorphenaramine (antiallergic) like XXXXXXX junior 1 tsf 3 times a day.

-Also give plenty of fluids,warm fluids will be soothing
-Give steam inhalation for 5 to 10 minutes.

In case symptoms persist,I suggest you to get him examined by pediatrician as physical examination will be required for further mNAGEMENT.

Can I give for tonight that 1.25ml
Gave citrizine 5ml afternoon at 1pm

Hello dr
My son recovered from running nose and cough
We met dr on sunday morning c asked me to continue cough syrup for 2days
But as cough was not much I stopped on sunday night as last dose
She checked his chest and told chest z clear
From monday im not given any medication
His secretion are thick but it comes easily if he remove......removes 5to 8 times per day
No cough much nearly 5to 7 times per day its productive
Sleeps normally

Now z he recovering from cold or need to check again for thick secretion

For this I suggest you to continue with steam inhalation as this helps loosening secretions.

Also continue with warm fluids,lemon tea will also be good.

Decrease intake of milk for couple of days.

As small children are not able to take out sputum and they swallow it so it will slowly come out with vomiting or with stools

He loves to take warm peadiasure milk 150 ml twice daily morning n evening
Z that ok or shal I stop for 2days
Can he take home made curd without cool
And orange juice

You can give milk once a day or decrease its quantity for couple of days.

Regarding curd,yes you can give home made curd but it should not be sour or cold. and give it during day time and small serving.

Orange juice I will suggest you to wait for 2 days.
