Brief Answer:
Yes, get done PFT.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

In my opinion, you should definitely consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
If PFT is showing obstructive defect with significant reversibility then possibility of asthma exacerbation is more likely.
PFT will not only diagnose asthma but it will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only.
You may need longer acting inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol).

Please let me know
1. Do you smoke?

I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Dear Sir,+

Thanks for your prompt reply. I never smoke.
What's mean by this X ray report, Emphysematous chest. Is this can be cured by doing some breathing exercise or Yoga?

Brief Answer:
This means your lungs are weaken.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It is good that you have never smoke.
Emphysematous lungs are usually seen with smokers who have COPD.
But it can also be seen in non smokers with chronic uncontrolled asthma, occupational lung disease, chronic pollution exposure etc.

But more important is PFT severity.
Sometimes chest x ray is showing emphysematous changes but PFT is normal. In such cases there is no lung damage.
But if PFT is showing obstructive defect then there is lung damage.

And severity of lung damage is graded on PFT values.
So in your case PFT is main thing.
And yes breathing exercises, yoga are any day good for lungs.
Please let me know
1. Where do you work
2. Do you have ay chronic chemical or dust or pollution exposure?

Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for the guidance.
I am working with Tupperware and our company have good environment. I am not exposed to chemical, dust or any pollution. I am living in a comparatively clean and greener city. I only exposed to normal atmospheric pollution, which common to everyone.

Whether my recent X ray report is common? Whether these symptoms and Emphysematous chest can happen due to cold and congestion? Now I have strong cough daily 5-6times , phlegm also white and clear, after OK. If walk fast, or if do any rigorous activities, slight breathing difficulty.

Brief Answer:
Yes, your X-ray report is normal.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Yes, emphysematous changes are normal in chest x ray report.
Chest X-ray reporting is majorly dependent on radiologist. Some radiologist call it as emphysematous changes while some report it as normal.

So what I am trying to say is that there is no specific definition of emphysematous changes. It is subjective term more.
What is more important is PFT values.
If your PFT values are low with normal chest X-ray, you are suffering from lung disease.
But if your PFT values are normal with emphysematous changes on chest X-ray, you are not having any lung disease.

Hope I am clear.
Now you have symptoms like cough, expectoration, breathlessness on exertion with background of asthma.
So possibility of acute worsening of underlying asthma is more likely.
I don't think it is simple cough and cold.

I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
