President Trump Said Saturday That He Will Delay Planned Immigration

Posted on Sun, 14 Jul 2019
Question: President Trump said Saturday that he will delay planned immigration raids for two weeks “at the request of Democrats.”I was admitted to the hospital after a Zio patch revealed 800 vtach events in 14 days including in 18 minutes event. I had no symptoms and I've had no symptoms today from the vtach. In the hospital they put me on sotalol and in two weeks there has been no vtach occurrence. The issue now is whether or not to put in an ICD. I've been told that through a series of tests they ruled out every cause and so it's either as a result of some kind of genetic issue or whatever but it's not treatable through a normal course of treatment other than the meds to suppress the vtach. The question is whether or not to get the ICD or monitor the following and see if they vtach continue. I've been told them in a low risk for heart failure from the vtach but on the other hand if it were to happen it we'll could be fatal. I'm trying to get any research data to predict what the risks of going around without an ICD at this point..

Brief Answer:
You need to get ICD monitored, just had a life threatening situation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and your situation carefully and here is my advice.

I think you just had a life threatening situations and the risk of death was really high. Also the cause of the situation is not yet determined.
I think it is beneficial that you get ICD monitored. This will help you better detect this rhythm and frequency. Also you should get monitored and observed in order to get help soon if this situation reoccurs.
I think it would be beneficial to do a heart ultrasound.

Hope I have answered the question.

To be clear, what was the "life threatening event"?

My ejection fraction is 60%.
Everything else has checked out normal. From Pet Scan and biopsy sarcoid and enzymes came back negative.
There is some scarring from an unknown cause.

I am now taking Soltilol.

What is the risk to go without an ICD? Thanks. BL

Brief Answer:
ICD works as pacemaker and defibrillator.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
Having 800 events of vtach in 14 days is too much practically a middle range of 57 events per day, this I meant a life threatening situation.
Also the fact that you are using sotilol this means that your doctor is thinking the same as me.
Having an ICD placed in your chest to reduce your risk of dying if the ventricles of your heart go into a dangerous rhythm and stop beating effectively.
It works as a pacemaker and also as defibrillator so you have the possibility to pass the situation of ventricular tachycardia.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.

Do you have experience with the Zio brand patch that collects heart data? I wore it for 14 days. Are there any issues with false positives, etc? They said it produced an EKG chart so I assume they could see the VTacs. Thank you BL

Brief Answer:
It is highly reliable.

Detailed Answer:
OK, I have experience with z pack usage and I find it very reliable.
It probably has 1% of artefacts or false positive as you call it so it is quite reliable.
It records the events the rhythm in ECG chart so they can see it clearly and judge it correctly.

Now the head of electro cardiology team at Mass General Hospital is saying I am at low risk for a serious cardiac event and he's comfortable with my getting an ICD -- OR an implantable chip monitor that would download data to the hospital everyday and manage with soltilol. I would be at higher risk obviously. does that change your thoughts about getting the ICD?

Answered by Dr. Olgeta Xhufka (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
I agree with head of cardiology team.

Detailed Answer:
So as a conclusion my opinion synchronises with the opinion of the head of electro cardiology team on choosing either ICD or implantable chip monitor.
