Question: My blood work showed I am high in cholesterol total 242 with hdl at 60 and ldl at 159 I do not want to take statins.. how dangerous are my levels .. my BMI is at 30 I exercise everyday ..can I reduce my ldl by losing weight? And holding to a strict diet? My tricy were excellent I do eat a lot of sweets if I quit eating those and stick to Whole Foods can I drop it down naturally

Yes you can reduce your cholesterol by following a strict diet plan low in fat and no junk food. You should also do regular exercise for at least 30minutes per day. You should quit Alcohol and smoking (if you are taking any).
In fact for the cholesterol levels you are having, we ask the patient who can exercise and follow diet plan to do that before starting the statin.
You just have to repeat your cholesterol levels after 3 months after starting the diet and exercise plan.
I hope they will come down as you have a strong determination.

So.. No need for Statin right now.
