Is Treatment For Acne Advisable While Treating Acanthosis Nigricans?

Question : I recently was prescribed isotretinoin 30 mg per day for Acne. What I forgot to tell my dermatologist was that I was on a treatment for Acanthosis nigricans - I was using Amonium lactate cream (Amylac) once a day in the morning - Antoxid HC (At night) - and Xerina lotion at night. Is it ok to continue the treatment for Acanthosis nigricans? or should I stop it?

How long should I continue?

I am Dr. kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

You may continue the treatment for acanthosis nigricans along with your treatment for acne. However since isotretinoin causes thinning and dryness of skin therefore there is a possibility that you may develop some irritation to the creams prescribed for acanthosis.. Hence I suggest you to use just xerina cream at night. Stop Amylac.
Instead of antoxid HC I suggest you to take tab. canthex, twice daily for acanthosis. Antixid HC is an antioxidant and it does not have any specific role in acanthosis.
