Posted on Tue, 31 Mar 2015
Question: sir i had a sex with aunty on november 10th 2014. i didnot insert my penis into her geneva/pussy but i rubbed her geneva/inner part with my fingures and chewed her nipples and after that i rubbed my penis with fingures, recently one mnth before i go for hiv blood test ( tri dot method ) it shows negative. on march 8 th also i went for hiv test( tri dot method) it shows negative.. but my doubt is i touched my penis after rubbed her geneva with my fingures, by doing that is there any transmission of hiv, or can i go for DNA PCR test to confirm hiv and someone saying that minimum it takes 6 mnths to detect hiv using tri dot method. pls clarify can i go for DNA PCR test ?

Brief Answer:
Transmission of HIV infection is unlikely from above incident

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
From the description of your incident, the risk of HIV is unlikely. This is because there is no direct entry of possible contaminated blood or secretions in to your penis as you did not have penetrative sexual intercourse.

However, it is good that you got HIV tridot test done twice and the last time was 120 days and result is negative.

The current guidelines for HIV screen is any one of the following
(i) Third generation HIV ELISA tridot testing to be done once at 30 days and again to be repeated at 180 days for confirmation. This tests for antibodies to HIV.

or

(ii) Fourth generation rapid HIV test to be done after 30 days only once. This tests for p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV if present.

HIV PCR DNA is usually done for infants born to HIV mother and not regularly done as a screening test.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

pls tell me doctor really, is it not necessary for me to go for fourth generation rapid test of hiv ?

Brief Answer:
Please find details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

There is no chance of getting infected by HIV from your incident and you can resume your normal life. The question of rapid testing has more to do with your anxiety level.

If I tell you to resume your normal life today itself then you will still have anxiety and then this will continue. Rather than having anxiety, it will be best to do the test after (fourth generation rapid test now or ELISA tridot after 180 days) and I am sure your results will be negative. That will be more like a document proof in your hand that you are normal. I hope you have understood what I mean.

We can discuss anything more that you feel I have not touched up on or anything else you have in your mind.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
