Posted on Wed, 1 Jun 2016
Question: Hi,

I had my last periods on 16th March. I have unprotected sex with my partner on 23rd, 25th and 26th March. We do not want kids now. I did not take any tablets until yesterday. Today i took 5 mg regesterone. When can i confirm pregnancy (within how many days of intercourse)? And how can i prevent myself from getting pregnant, now? Please advise.

Emergency contraception

Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Pregnancy after unprotected intercourse can be prevented by taking emergency contraceptive pills within72 hours of unprotected intercourse.
Regestrone does not act as a contraceptive.
I will suggest you to take emergency contraception if 72 hours have not elapsed.
Pregnancy can be confirmed at least 14 days after the intercourse.
