Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking I-pill?

Question: My wife had her menses on 29th sept. We had unprotected sex on 12th oct so she took ipill within 5 hours of having sex... is it true that chances of preganancy is high as i pill is less effective during fertile period... is there any other way to stop her from becoming pregnant...

Hello and welcome to HCM. Thanks for writing in to us with your health query. I have gone through your query and understand your concerns completely . Efficacy of ipill does not get reduced in fertile period, its purpose is to stop the implantation of the embryo. It has high hormone levels which make uterus lining hostile for the incoming embryo. There is no need to take ipill during infertile period as there will be no embryo for implantation. There will be withdrawal bleeding after 3-5 days of intake of ipill. Is it compulsory to have withdrawal bleeding because earlier she did not have any bleeding as such

No dear, indeed it is not at all compulsory to have withdrawal bleeding always but it is a welcome sign as it indirectly predicts that there has been no pregnancy.
