Brief answer...depends upon various factors
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Answer to this question is not straightforward.
Prognosis for melanoma depends upon various factors like it's depth in mms, presence of ulceration, type of melanoma, invasion of local lymph nodes, metastasis to different places etc.
The best cure is, if it is found in earliest stages and surgically removed.
If there is distant metastasis, then 5 year survival rate is just 10% and median survival rate between 6-12 months.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck.
Thanks
