Brief Answer:
There is no side effect when taking Azilect with multivitamins!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

There is no risk or possible interaction taking Azilect with multivitamins. If that is the only other drug you are taking, there is no reason to get worried. If you are on any other medications, please let me know so that I can also review for any possible interactions. Drugs you have to be very cautious when taking are cough and cold medications. Any time you need to take these, always ask for advice on safety before doing so.

In all, no vitamin(multivitamin) has any possible interactions or increased risk when taken with Azilect.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel fee to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

I am the care giver and am asking the questions. I am very concerned about my husband's confusion. He is taking a low dose aspirin, gabapentin, diltiazem, glucosamine, azelect, simvastatin, Cialis, and quietine. I've read that some interactions with food and drugs can cause this confusion. He also has dementia. He has had the deep brain stimulator put in for the parkinsons and it helps with the tremors and some balance, but he is always confused. Our neurologist we see seems to think that the disease is causing the confusing, but we both feel like the medicines are making him this way. He seems to be more confused daily. Thank you for your time. I am frustrated to find some answers and need some direction. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
The medications are not the likely cause here!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this followup information.

I understand how disturbing dealing with a patient with dementia can be. I have reviewed this added information and his medications. His confused state is not explained by these medications. Being a client with dementia, I would think that is the most likely cause. The main characteristics of dementia is confusion and inability to recall and relate to information. I know it is very difficult and even more os at this time because the medical community is unable to adequately treat it at this time.

There are some medications like excel on which may help with Alzheimer's dementia disease. Please, ask your doctor about the possibility of using this. It has been shown to offer some improvement in memory functions in patients with dementia.

I hope this helps. I wish your husband well. Feel free to return with more questions if need be.

Can dementia progress quickly or is it a slow lose of memory?

Answered by Dr. Ivo Ditah (14 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Generally slow. However rate dependent on the cause!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this followup question.

Generally, memory loss is a steady and slow process if it is linked to old age and other conditions like Alzheimer's. However, dementia caused by other conditions may lead raid stepwise decline as the case with vascular disease induced dementia. The rate is not the same for all.

I hope this addresses your query. I wish you well. If there is any unaddressed concern, please let me know and I would gladly address it.
