Is It Safe To Take Clonazepam For Emotional Imbalance?

default
Posted on Mon, 17 Aug 2015
Question: My adult son (45) has been prescribed both Clonazepan and Abilify. The first medication is highly addictive, the doctor told us. I see it has many side effects. Is it relatively safe? He has had Abilify before, with no noticeable side effects, but that was three years ago. Any thoughts?

Brief Answer:
These medicines are usually well tolerated.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Although Clonazepam on long term use may cause addiction and one might not be able to sleep without it, it is usually very well tolerated at usually prescribed doses and if not taken in excess, I do not expect any side effects except for may be increased sleepiness. Since Abilify has already been tried, I would not need to comment on the same. As of now, taking the medicines would be more of a priority than the fear of side effects.
