default
Posted on Wed, 20 Jan 2016
Question: Hello Doctor,

I am 16.2 weeks pregnant. Did NT scan on 12 weeks and all reports are normal. But I am not feeling any baby movement. This is my second child. On 14 and 15th week I felt light (butterflies) movement many times but from last 1 week i don't feel it. Is it normal??? Please advice. I am bit worried as i had 2 miscarriages earlier(on 6th and 8th weeks due to heart beat lost).

Brief Answer:
Your baby will be fine. Dont worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) It is normal to start feeling baby movements upto 20 weeks. Delay is not a matter of worry.

2) You can comfortably wait for another 4 weeks for baby movements to start.

3) Since you have normal baby till 12 weeks, the miscarriage chances are very low.

4) If you are extremely worried, you can repeat an ultrasound scan today for baby wellbeing.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

regards
