Brief Answer:
No ma'am, alcohol is not seen on a CBC test

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Well ma'am, a straight forward answer to your question would be a No. Alcohol cannot be seen in a CBC and so there is no duration we need to be worried about.

But you should also know that a chronic alcoholic will have some amount of damage to the liver and other organs which can show up in a CBC as low haemoglobin (anaemia). If anaemia is seen, then the individual is further investigated to find the cause for the anaemia. And if at all the individual is a chronic alcoholic, then these other investigations can easily tell.

I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
A few ways are there, but they may not be accurate

Detailed Answer:
Hi ma'am.

Home tests, not really.

You can check:

- The inner region of your lower eyelid by pulling/stretching it; if it appears to be pale (light pink or whitish) in any possible way, then this indicates anaemia
- Check your nail beds: If they are darkish pink then you are not anaemic, if anything lighter or pale then anaemia is a possibility
- You can also similarly check the colour of your lips

Other than this there is no way we can determine anaemia at home. You can also choose to attach images of all these regions to our discussion or email them to me at

YYYY@YYYY

with the subject line as 'ATTN: Dr. Shoaib Khan' so I can examine your inner eyelid, nail beds and lips for you.

Best wishes.
