Is A Medical Consultation Required If The Thigh Muscles Differ In Size?
Question: I am a healthy 70 year old female. My primary exercise is walking. I do the 10,000 daily steps routine and hit the goal most days. I have noticed that my left thigh muscle is larger than my right. It measures about 1 inch larger. I have no pain or other symptoms in my thigh. I first noticed this about one year ago when I retired and gained about 10 lbs. I am 5'9" and weigh 155 which is heavy for me. I have never been overweight and do not believe I am now but this is my heaviest weight. Is it normal to have one thigh muscle develop to be a larger size than the other or should I consult my physician?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
You should not be concerned about one thigh muscle bigger than the other. This is perfectly normal and common to find such anamolies in human body. The growth of muscle depends on various factors like nutrition, blood supply, bone attachments, work and handed XXXXXXX
So you may not need to consult doctor for this. Regarding the weight I just suggest to continue your daily routine and do not bother about the extra weight you may be having now. That is negligible when compared to the benefits derived from exercise.
