Is Trazodone HCL Prescribed For Overflow Incontinence?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Mar 2015
Question: I went to the VA Hosp Muskogee yesterday. My PSA level was a little high. The Dr asked some questions related to urinary problems. Typical. She asked me if I wanted some meds to help with the dribbling. I said sure. Went to the pharmacy and they gave me Trazodone HCL 50mg tabs. I do not find anywhere that Trazodone is used for dribbling. As a matter of fact I have found several places that state it should not be taken with prostate issues are concerned. I am not depressed and do not have any problem sleeping. I also work in the construction industry, therefore being drowsy and un alert is really not an option for me. So basically, my question is : Is Trazodone HCL prescribed for overflow problem of dribbling?

Brief Answer:
normally indicated for depression and sleep disorders

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

AS you correctly stated, this medication is normally indicated for treatment of depression and sleep disorders.

It can be associated with prostatic side effects , usually retention of urine but some persons may have urinary incontinence as well.

It is not used to treat prostate related symptoms normally, you may want to discuss this prescription with your doctor. She may have a reason for prescribing it to you
Normally tamsulosin, finasteride or dutasteride are used to treat prostatic complaints.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
