Is HIV Transmission Possible After Protected Sex?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Apr 2014
Question: Hi. I had safe and protected sex with a sex worker with 2 condoms 1 week ago. After 3 to 5 minutes of intercourse, I didn't ejaculate. With a gap of 2 minutes again, I then did masterbate myself on this used condom which is on my erected penis for 2 minutes. I have no cuts and wounds on my hands and the condom was dry without any female veginal fluids. After ejaculation, I removed the condoms safely with tissue and washed my hands and then washed my penis with my hands with water. Is there any chance of HIV.

Brief Answer: Negligible risk towards HIV Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome to HCM. Thanks for posting your query. You had protected exposure, that too with double condoms. That lady might not be HIV positive woman. Handling the condoms with bare hands without any cuts or sore carries a negligible risk for HIV. So you need not worry. Dr S.Murugan

Hello Doctor Thank you for your reply. I'm relieved now. Before closing, I just have one last question. I'm married and have a 2 years old kid. Do I need to go for HIV test before having unprotected sex with my wife or is the test not required. Thank you for your reply.

Brief Answer: Test suggested. Negative result relieve tension. Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome back. You need no HIV test actually. But any future illness may likely to disturb you and you may likely to correlate it to HIV and you may likely to worry about your wife also. So it is better for you to have the test and get a negative result. After ruling out HIV totally with the test you will be relieved considerably. Dr S. Murugan

Hello Doctor I just have one more last doubt to be clarified to ease my tension. After masturbation with used condom on my penis, as described earlier, I went to bathroom cleaned my two hands with very little water of about one bath mug and then I washed my penis with those hands with another mug of water. Is there a chance to get infected for HIV by this activity through penis skin and penis tip/head. Thank you for your reply.

Brief Answer: Still your risk for HIV is negligible only Detailed Answer: Hi Welcome once again. HIV can not viable outside the body or other than body fluid. Within one or two seconds. It cannot live in water or outside atmosphere. So HIV transmission through other than exchange of body fluids is not possible practically. So inadequate washing of hands then washing the genitals with the same hands had not increased your risk in any way as far as HIV transmission. So the chances are negligible only. Nothing to worry.
