Posted on Tue, 2 Dec 2014
Question: Hi, I was recently diagnosed with Reflex sympathetic Dystrophy and my doctor has prescribed Deanxit. I checked it out over the Internet and found that it was banned in many countries! I take one pill a day, should I switch to another drug? Is it that bad?

Brief Answer:
No need to switch

Detailed Answer:
Hello ,

Thanks for writing to us. Deanxit is banned in some countries due to its misused and dependance potential. It contains flupenthixol and melitracin combinaton. This drug acts to relieve anxiety and restlessness due to physical as well as psychological problem. Sometime it is used without rationale by physicians. So it is mandatory to be prescibed by psychiatrist only in some countries.

In your case if it is helpful , you can continue it under medical supervision. Your condition is going to be chronic and deanxit is the just one part of treatment approach to reflex sympathetic dystrophy, so no need to stop it or replace it until indicated by your treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query.

Dr.Chintan Solanki.
