Brief Answer:
Let me know the blood vitamin D level

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
Low blood vitamin D level as well as high vitamin D level are not good for health.
If your son's doctor has done a blood vitamin D level before putting him on 50,000 iu per week, let me know the value and I will give you my opinion. Check the dose the doctor prescribed. It is likely to be one per week and not 3 per week. Let me have your son'so height and weight.

Detailed Answer:
It's a high dose and please check with his doctor. Also request him for the result of the vitamin D level.
Low vitamin D level usually produces boney pains and joint pains. Since your son is obese, the pains can be due to that also.
High vitamin D leads to high blood calcium level and calcium may deposit in tissues causing problems. It may be silent in early stages.
