I Hit My Head, And Bent My Neck Pretty Severely

default
Posted on Sat, 1 Feb 2020
Question: I hit my head, and bent my neck pretty severely in a snowboarding accident 5 days ago. After that, when I would try and sit up my vision would spin so much I could not stay upright. After the first 2 days I felt better, but my head still feels extremely full, like a heavy feeling, and if I move my neck fast or put it in a weird position the dizziness/vertigo comes back. It’s way worse at night when I’m trying to sleep. Over all I feel fine, my neck isn’t that sore, I just feel light headed overall. It’s the dizziness and room spinning when I move that’s worrying me. I can’t really afford to go in and get checked out, I don’t have insurance so I’m wondering if I can just wait this out.

Brief Answer:
A CT scan will be the best option.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
It will be better to go for a CT scan of the head to look for any intracranial injury like bleed or contusion.
You can go for a screening of the cervical spine( spines of the neck) along with the CT head.
Since you are feeling dizzy wait and watch policy is not recommended.
You can apply over the counter available analgesic creams like diclofenac for neck pain.
As of now drink plenty of water and take bed rest.
Wishing all the best.
Thanks
