Posted on Sat, 23 Sep 2023
Question: I have been diagonised with borderline PCOD. And have been constantly putting on weight. My periods were never regular right from its initiation at the age of 11. I have used various hormonal tablets prescribed by doctors for many intervals over all these years. What kind of lifestyle changes should I make to get rid of PCOD. I have tried a lot of diet changes and now I am apprehensive to have vitamin deficiencies. Please suggest a balanced diet for weight loss which is suitable for my medical condition. I am 10kgs over the ideal weight I should be.

Brief Answer:
As below

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

PCOD is a lifestyle disorder, a hormonal imbalance that leads to weight gain, irregular periods, fertility issues, excessive hair growth on sensitive areas, acne etc.

It is important to have a diet rich in green leafy vegetables, fruits, liquids, sprouts, salads. Avoid carbohydrates ( rice, potatoes, fried food, oil, butter, ghee, cheese, ketchup, ice cream, chocolates, high-calorie sweets).

Consult a nutritionist to have a calorie deficient diet that does not compromise on vitamins. Consult a personal fitness trainer to have a workout every day to burn targeted calories.
Metformin tablets may hasten and aid in weight loss.

Are you married and do you have fertility issues? If yes, you may need medications for the purpose of planning a pregnancy.

All the best. Please feel free to discuss further.
