Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.

Moles are benign tumors that arise from melanocytes ( the cells which contain the pigment melanin) unless proved otherwise.

Normal moles can be of different colors like brown, black, red, flesh colored and even blue. They can be flat or raised, round, oval, or irregularly shaped.
Since you have a history of diabetes, I would like to ensure that what we are dealing with here is a mole and not a pustule or an abscess. Hence I would request you to answer the following questions:
a.     When has the mole appeared?
b.     Is it painful?
c.     Do you have any body ache, fever or fatigue?

Further, we should suspect a mole as cancerous only in the following situations:
1.     When an existing mole changes in colour or shape, or begins to bleed or ooze. You have mentioned as discharging foul odour but not any discharge.
2.     Moles that have become unusually large or are raised above the skin or have more than one color.
3.     The appearance of a new irregular mole (it is normal for people to develop new moles from until they reach their 40s
4.     Areas of skin that become scaly, itchy, tender or red, or areas that ooze, bleed.

It is better to get it physically examined by a dermatologist. It would be great if you can upload a picture at the “Upload your reports” section on the right. Alternatively, you can send the picture to me at YYYY@YYYY with Subject:ATTN Dr. Radhika XXXXXXX

a. When has the mole appeared? It has been there for a few years now but it hasnt bothered me before.
b. Is it painful? It is very painful for me to sit or move around on it to much.
c. Do you have any body ache, fever or fatigue? I do feel fatigued quite often.

It does have a white discharge coming out of it. I have tried a hot rag and heating pad on it but I still get no relief. I am attaching a picture along with it.

Hi,

Thanks for the follow up.

I have seen the photo. It was not very clear, due to the location of your mole there are chances of it being touched frequently.

Since it is discharging pus it is better to get it removed and sent for examination by a Dermatologist. The open mole might come in contact with stools which will infect it. You can now apply hot fomentation, clean with an antiseptic like Betadine lotion and apply ointment like Neosprin.

Without histopathological examination it is difficult to confirm the nature of the mole.

Hope I have answered your query. I will be available for follow up queries.

Wishing you good health.

Regards,
