Can Hip Surgery Still Be Done After A Proleia Shot, A Cardiac Enzyme Episode And Feeling Of Numbness In The Hands?
Question: I had a Proleia shot two and a half weeks ago. I had a cardiac enzyme episode and spent several hours in ER. I am supposed to have hip surgery on July third, but I am not sure that this is a wise thing to do right now. I still have numbness in my hands. What is your opinion about surgery? I am not in severe pain in the hip area.
Brief Answer:
Advice to undergo cardiac evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If you have had a recent rise in cardiac enzymes, then it is important to undergo detailed cardiac evelaition including coronary angiography, echocardiogram, stress testing to assess cardiac functioning.
There is an increased risk of heart attack especially the first month following hip surgery. So, it is very important to undergo cardiac assessment. If there is any indication of coronary artery disease, it is best to postpone surgery if possible.
