Question: I am diabetic. Cuurently taking Novomix insulin 30/70. 25 dose morning and 25 evening. I also take Kombiglyze 5mg/1000. This is a combination of Saxagliptin 5m and Metformin 1000mg. Metformin alone does not help and that it why i was prescribed the kombiglyze as combination of the 2.
Since Metformin does not work properly on me already I though continuing this combination is unnecessary expense. Is it possible to take Saxaglipin only together with the insulin? Or is there a better alternative?

Brief Answer:
about diabetes treatment;

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
Metformine ia the treatment of choice in type 2 Diabetes, especially in obese patients.
If the glucose levels are high with oral antidiabetic tablets, it does not mean that they do not work, but they are not enough.
If you stop metformine, you will very high doses of insuline and will gain weight considerably in one year.
So metformine helps in taking lower doses of insuline, lower hypoglycemic events and lower weight gain.
So you need to take Kombyglyze and insuline both.
Hope the information will help.
Best wishes,

Hi again!
If you have abdominal fat it helps.
Otherewise you can try to reduce the dose (2×500 mg) and see the difference.

Detailed Answer:
Saxagliptine has a lower effect in lowering glucose levels compared to metformine!
It helps also in overweight people.
So if you think to reduce tablets, you will start with saxagliptine!
