Question: I am a healthy 54 year old female. I started getting a burning pain under my arm with no rash. Then it started moving to my back. It is very painful to the touch and nothing seems to help. I've had the shingles vaccine and with no sign of rash I'm not sure. I have just started taking ibuprofen and notice it goes away entirely for the four hours the ibuprofen is working

Brief Answer:
Shingles

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Did you ever had shingles in the past before the vaccine?
Generally shingles start with such pain. When did you take the vaccine? Ibuprofen should work. I still suggest you to wait.

No but I had the chicken pox at age 30. I had the vaccine for shingles a few years ago. Did you say not to take any ibuprofen?

Brief Answer:
Ibuprofen

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Take Ibuprofen. Nothing else. Since you had shingles in the past and also taken the vaccine, the antibodies are resisting any virus multiplication. Stay calm and do not be stressed.
