Question: I am a 47 year old female with radiculopathy with history of major car accidents in 88 C2C3 fracture and in 97 lft tibia fracture right comp fract in ankle, facial reconstruction loss of upper front teeth, broken jaw and tbi. Now I have severe reverse cervical lordsis with Warranted multi level degeneration of
cervical spine, due to age I have been told inluding herniated discs, ostephytes, lumbar descisation scoliosis, etc....I do have a specific question in regards to two words that in my opinion has been recently caused by dental malpractice on two occasions. First dentist in Dec 2016 was negligent and too rough getting two unruly teeth out with such force during extraction which caused un mentionable pain for six months or longer but with XXXXXXX 2017 mri stating Grade 1 anterolisthesis of c3 on c4 could his force and manevering cuase this extra level of slippage of an entire bone(s) and another dentist in DEc 2018 removal of 22 plus year old fixed bridge on upper law with mallet for over 1 hour and 1/2 with March 2019 MRI stating now grade 1 ahterolisthesis on c3 on c4 and stepwise minimal retrolisthesis of c5 on c6 and c6 on c7. I have more questions but latest mri march 2019 seems very much more serious not to mention since dec 21 2018 and botched procedure I have all but loss strenght an mobility in left hand and arm with intermittent loss in left my gait speech and mobility has slowed to a crawl and almost tremor. Cannot sleep and so on.
Question is the following: I am disabled since 2013 with neuro and physical issues. Doesnt these sort of displacements both forward and back along with type 1 modic endplate changes at c6 c7 with mild disc height and disc desicaation note at c5 c6 c6 c7 along with c3 c4 left side facet foramoinal narrowing resulting in mild spinal canal stensis and left foraminal narrowing. c4 c5 bone spur and mild facet arthopathy mild spinal can stenosis without form narr. C5 C6 bone spur facet arthopathe and inicate hpyertrophy resulting in mild spinal canal stensos moderate left narrowing. C6 C7 bone spur canal stenosis milt lefy and moderate right neural foramin narrowing potentially a direct result from blunt force trauma during dental surgery. Please guide me. I

Brief Answer:
Not likely to be related to dental procedure.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have gone through the details provided and seen all the attached reports. The changes in the spine like anterolisthesis and foraminal narrowing and disc dessication- all these are degenerative changes of the spine and can be aggravated by a past injury in the neck. These changes are not brought about by the dental extraction itself. Any such procedure can cause a jerk and a soft tissue injury but is not likely to cause lax ligaments that can allow the vertebra to slip over. This happens due to long term changes in the spine and are aggravated by poor tone of the neck muscles. Regular physiotherapy exercises are often helpful in preventing the progression of the problem.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
Dr. Praveen Tayal.

Thank u. I wasn't clear regarding dental surgery. Car accident in 97 caused me to get a fixed bridge on upper front teeth 6in total cemented in and done exceptionally well. Fixture stay in 22 plus years with no issues. This newly licensed dentist was tasked to remove this fixture. Without sedation he proceeded without stabilizing neck as I requested two months back used a mallet and other dental pic and with great force for literally one hour and a half pounded on that fixture from left to right while prying on fixture. An entire tooth came out still attached.

I understand the condition of my neck prior to procedure. I've had many Kris over the last few years with not much change than lumbar issues. I am in descent condition chronic pain from obvious past trauma. How within a three year period while swimming and slow walking living on Galveston island relaxing such severe changes occurred directly causing pain that has not subsided. Please reconsider.
I am only 47. Retrolisthesis just doesn't occur for no reason. Trauma as I have gone thru and continue declining neurologically when before procedure with jolts from mallet downward has resulted in severe decline. Please help and thank u

Brief Answer:
Can be due to the dental procedure.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Sudden jerks and trauma to the neck can cause such changes. The severe decline in the symptoms in last three years can be related to injury to neck that happened during the dental procedure. You can consider taking oral muscle relaxants and methylcobalamin supplements and see if it helps.
Hope my answer is helpful.
