How To Terminate Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Oct 2015
Question: My gf is 2 month pregnant, she took Cytotec 250 abortion pills, 4 being inserted inside the vigina and 3 being taken orally. She took them in the first month of pregnancy and she had bleeding but not severe. We did a pregnancy test and the result shows that she is still pregnant, now we are planning to buy the same pills and do the abortions. My concern is that the abortion might not be successful. Therefore, I am asking what is the success rate? what should I consider? what are your suggestions if any?

Brief Answer:
Consult a Gynecologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your health care.
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.
As she is 2 months pregnant and she already had cytotec tablets, she should first go for ultrasound scan to confirm the weeks of pregnancy.
If pregnancy is more than 49 days than she should consult a Gynecologist and get surgical abortion ( called D&C) done.
She should not take abortion pills without doctor consultation or an expert because it may cause severe bleeding, infection and incomplete abortion.
Hope found useful, feel free to ask more information.
Good luck.

Brief Answer:
Almost 94-96% effective.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
It is almost 94-96% effective if both type of abortion pills taken.
Only one drug( cytotec) is 80-83% effective.
In your case failure is due to use of only cytotec.
So this time you should first get your ultrasound scan than took both the abortion pills under supervision.
Hope found useful.
Good luck.

I thought cytotec is the only abortion pill, in my case it's 4 pills inside the vigina and 3 pills orally, is it 80 -83% effective? what other pills you are talking about?

Are there any success chances after 50 days of pregnancy, what are the chances if any?

Brief Answer:
Explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Sorry for the long delay in my response.
In your case chances are 83-90% but as you are continuing the pregnancy after taking it,in my opinion you should consult a Gynecologist for further medications.
Mifepristone is another abortion pill which is used along with mesoprostol and success rate is 96% in most of the cases.
The result and effect can vary from person to person and with failure of medical abortion required surgical intervention.
The pills can be used up to 49 days otherwise chances of incomplete abortion are more.
Hope found useful, feel free to discuss more information.
Good luck.

My gf inserted another 4 pills in her vigina and 3 pills orally today, she complained about little bleeding as it's not the same severe bleeding when we had our first successful abortion. The pills she took is cytotec and we only have access to this type of pill we can't do any surgical abortion as it's illegal to where we live. However, we can get the same cytotec pills to use them again if we didn't see any sign of successful abortion (severe bleeding and pain), we need suggestions and solutions.

Brief Answer:
Self insertion is not advisable.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Sorry for the long delay in my response.
As such she already have so many cytotec pills and still there is no bleeding and pain, maybe she will go in incomplete abortion, so in my opinion if it is possible to you come to country (like India) where the abortion is legal and consult a Gynecologist for surgical method of abortion( to complete the abortion process).
Hope to hear from you soon.
Good luck.
