How To Regulate Dilantin Levels In The Body?

default
Posted on Fri, 2 Jan 2015
Question: I am taking Dilantin and have the blood levels checked regularly. I went to my Doctor and he told me that the Dilantin level was a little high at 24 so he decreases the medication from 3 and a half pills per day to 3 pills per day. I had my blood level checked 2 weeks later and it was at 16.4 which is good. Should I ask to have it checked again in 2 weeks to make sure that it hasn't gone to low, or should I just wait until my Doctor advises me to have it checked again? I have a feeling if I ask he is going to say it is to soon to have it rechecked.

Brief Answer:
Wait till your doctor says

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I understand your concern.Since you have already checked your blood level of Dilantin before 2 weeks, I think you should wait till your doctor decides another recheck.

If you have any seizure related problems or any other uneasiness going on in your body right now,you should talk to your doctor regarding it.If no issues, then just stay calm.Your level is appropriate right now, normal being 10-20 mcg/ml.

Hope this helps.Feel free to ask more.

Do you think it will stay stable at 300 per day? He has tried me at300 before and it has always needed to be increased because it goes to low. That is why I am concerned.

Please do not worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam,

Thank you for follow up query.

As I said earlier, until and unless you are having any health issues you need not be concerned. These tablets need few dose adjustments until your body adjusts with it.Please see a doctor in case if any body disturbances.

Hope this helped. If you have no further clarifications, please rate this answer and close this discussion.
