Brief Answer:
It could be seborheic dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

Please donot use medicated shampoo as it can cause further hair loss. Let the scalp stabilise to a natural state so that hair growth can continue.
Meanwhile please try to find the cause of the seborhea. It could be hardness of water. It could be due to low nutrition, anemia. It could also happen due to too much use of cosmetics or medicines.
Are other areas of face or body also dry?
Is there redness or itching?
Seborhea is a recurring condition. The flakes maynot go away completely despite regular or aggresive treatment. Mostly it is a harmless condition and doesnot cause any medical condition. You may use relatively natural remedies like oil for local application and tab XXXXXXX lauh (if anemic).

Hello Mam, Thank you for the answer.
Further to my query.. This started when I moved from Trichy to Bengaluru. about 2 years back. and it's been the same ever since.
Water has changed; eating habits have been changed
drastically.
No cosmetics except Amla hair oil.
No itching or redness anywhere in the body, including the scalp. No dryness anywhere. And flaking is only near the forehead and not all around the scalp. Scalp seems to be healthy except near forehead. But I'm not using any cosmetics that would cause this. Kindly help me with this.

Brief Answer:
By using oil

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

Dry sensitive skin will cause flakes. Please get exact diagnosis by a dermatologist to rule out conditions like psoriasis or eczema.
For dry skin anti-dandruff shampoos will not work.
You can apply some oil, butter, moisturising cream or vaseline on wet skin after a bath. You can also comb out the flakes. Avoid use of harsh shampoos and conditioners especially those that contain any medicines like salicylic acid, etc. Can include amla in your diet to replenish the skin. Drinking water with TDS less than 40 is also useful.

Dr Vaishalee
