How To Continue BC Pills When Missed On One?

default
Posted on Sat, 30 Apr 2016
Question: Hi! I lost an active birth control pill a week ago. 28 day pack, Sunday starter. When I lost the pill, I just took the next day's pill. So I finished active pills a day early, which means I finished yesterday instead of today. Had sex with my husband today and period is due next Wednesday-ish. What should I do about the new pill pack? Start early? And so I need to do plan b at this stage in my cycle, given that I take my pills on time? Thanks, XXXX

Brief Answer:
Plan B is not needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to healthcare magic.
I understand your concern.
Iam Dr.Srilatha gynaecologist.

In my opinion plan B is not be needed.

I suggest you to take a pill from a new pack
for today and continue your dummy pills as usual so that your cycle will be completed.

This new packet you can keep as spare packet in case of any losing pills in future.

Nothing to worry.

Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.

Hi! Thanks for getting back to me. I do not have a backup pack or the ability to have one. Insurance won't allow it. Should I start the new pack early?

Brief Answer:
The period might come early

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,goodday.
I got your query.
Actually there are two methods when you loose the pill.
They are :-
1)taking pill from a spare packet as I told you in previous query.
2)Take the last day of pill and continue the other pills as usual. Here you might start your cycle early but it doesn't affect your contraception.

As you have followed the second method nothing to worry.

However you have come to safe period of the cycle so there might be no chance of pregnancy.

In order to be 100% sure I suggest you to use barrier method like condom incase of any intercourse today.

Nothing to worry dear.Relax.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.
Best regards...Dr.Srilatha
