How Long Does It Take Norethindrone To Leave One's System?

Question: How long does it take Norethindrone to leave one's system? My husband and I are talking about starting a family. I haven't been on this pill consistently, except to control the times I'd prefer to have my period. We're planning a vacation in January and it appears I'll have to take the pill again for this trip as to avoid getting my period while away. I'm a little concerned because I have also been diagnosed with Hashimoto's which I've read can cause fertility issues. I don't want to be limiting our chances even more by taking the pill, as I've heard it can take a while to be eliminated from the system. Thanks so much!

Brief Answer:
it would not have long lasting effects

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The half life of medication is the time it takes for the level of medication in the body to decrease by half. It takes 3 to 5 half lives for medication to be mostly eliminated.

The half life of norethindrone is 8 hours. This means that it should take approximately 24 to 40 hours for it to be mostly eliminated.
Some women use similar meds as contraception, if they miss a single dose, sometimes told to double the dose used the next day because it would have left their body.

It would not have long term effect on trying to conceive

Normally infertility is diagnosed after one year of trying to conceive in omen less than 35 but at 35 or older, it is after 6 months.

a fertility specialist would be helpful with conception

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
