How Long Does Foot Pain Take To Subside Post Treatment?

Question: Hi, I have a question. I am a nurse so I know some about the medical field, but I work in labor and delivery so I only know mostly about that. This morning I rolled my ankle in a high heel and then the top of my foot and side of my ankle slammed into the dining room table. It hurt very bad right when it happened, so I took some Tylenol put some ice on it and elevated in for like an hour (Ice only 20 mins) I then got up and got dressed and did some things I needed to do, but the ankle and mostly the top of my foot by my ankle remained very painful and was throbbing so I went to an urgent care ( after trying to get in with my pcp) they looked at it, did some x-rays and put an air cast on it. I had told the PA that I can not take and NSAIDS for a week because I have just had a colonoscopy, but she still prescribed them anyway, then told me to just continue with Tylenol and RICE and the air cast. The aircast does make it feel a bit better and it's only a little swollen and only slightly bruised, but it's still throbbing, I'm
Gonna try the advice for at least overnight, but if it's still throbbing in the morning would it be un-reasonable to call the clinic and asked to be prescribed something a little stronger like tramadol, t3, or lortab? I'm a baby about pain, but I legit want the medicine for pain control.... No other reason as I assum the clinic assumes.
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
You can call in the morning.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After an injury it usually takes 24-48 hours for the pain to subside in an air cast. In the morning if the pain is not better you can ask your pcp to prescribe tramadol.
I hope this answers your query.

Hey, so, i have tricare, and my actual pcp that is assigned to me has apparently been out for some reason for weeks with no idea when he will return, and the clinic is closed until tuesday because its on post and its labor day on monday. :-/ I dont want to try and go to anothrr urgent care because ive been to this one and been treated and i have never been to the ER and will not go there unless im dying. So i suppose my only option is to call the urgent one i went to today, do you think they will be any help, is it un-reasonable for this type of medication to be given for a few days for lower grade sprain. I was once perscribed vicodin for a sore throat when i definitely didnt beed it and now ive asked for something and was ignored :-/ why ? I dont have a drug problem, probably just a baby about pain.

Brief Answer:
You can ask the urgent care.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
It is not unreasonable to ask for a stronger pain killer if your pain has not relieved. You can call the urgent care you went to today. It can be given for a short duration.
Hope my answer is helpful.
