Brief Answer:
Survival of HIV over the lancet for hours is not possible

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.
Thanks for posting your query.
HIV can not survive outside the body fluid not more than few seconds.
It is not possible for HIV to be viable over a lancet for 6-7 hours. As soon as the infectious blood or body fluid gets dried, HIV cannot survive.

Brief Answer:
Quite unlikely to get HIV with such a prick

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Even if you had a prick with lancet contaminated with HIV infected blood 6-7 hours after it was used by the source, it would be quite unlikely for you to get the infection through this mode.
There is nothing wrong in testing for HIV after 3 months and rule out HIV beyond any doubt. That will ease your mind. Otherwise even for small ailments you would like to correlate with that prick and HIV.

Brief Answer:
Your HIV risk is negligible only

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
1. HIV cannot survive over a lancet for hours.
2. Even with a prick with a lancet 6-7 hours after it's use, HIV risk is negligible.
3. You can have HIV test to rule out HIV infection beyond any doubt.
4. HIV survival over a contaminated lancet depends on the place, climate and humidity etc. Anyhow it could not be for hours.
