Question: How long will after the peritoneal abdominal surgery can I continue dialysis???
I'll be traveling to Netherlands & my own health insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions, only emergency. I currently have an arm fistula & need dialysis 3X's weekly??

Thanks for getting back with clarifications. The initiation of peritoneal dialysis after surgery depends on each centre.
In our hospital we flush the catheter on 5th day post operation and start dialysis 10th day post operation

Yes, you can certainly use the fistula. But please make sure that your dialysis is 'without heparin'. Usually heparin is used during dialysis and it should not be used post op as you will have risk of active bleeding from the operated site.
