How Does Humidifier Help In Sleep Apnea?

Question: Hello, i am 58 years old suffering from sleep apnea and using c-pap machine regularly , i am using it with humidifier, what is the use of humidifier ? Can i use cpap without it ? Or is it more advantageous with humidifier? When for some days i dont use cpap my blood pressure increases, are both related ? Please guide me .

Brief Answer: C-PAP should be used with humidifier only Detailed Answer: Hi Mr XXXXXXX Welcome to HCM. C-PAP should be used with humidifier only. it helps in keeping your airways wet and less viscous. if there is no humidifier, the dry air will cause dehydration of mucus in airways and result in crust formation and damage to air ways, increasing chances of infection. If you do not use C-PAP, you will not get enough oxygen that night, causing hypoxic stress on your brain which releases catecholamines that will rise your blood pressure. CPAP is a life saving and life prolonging machine. Please do use it whenever possible. Hope i am clear.
