How Can Back Pain Related To Posture While Working Be Treated?

default
Posted on Wed, 20 Sep 2017
Question: My question has nothing to do with current meds. Since the end of July I have been having pains shooting down the backs of my legs, and lower back pain. When I stand up after sitting it is worse and sometimes after I'm on my feet for 10-15 minutes I have to sit down to relieve the pain going down my legs. I have been getting chiropractic adjustments since 8/4/17 twice a week and it helps but has not gone away. I don't know how long I should wait to get a medical opinion or who I should see.

Brief Answer:
Can eb posture related.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
From description it seems to be mechanical back pain, more related to posture while working.
For pain and spasm to go you have to do back exercises to relive the spasm associated with this. Doing hot fomentation and applying muscle relaxant gel will also be helpful in relieving the spasm.
Correct your posture while sitting. Take frequent breaks during your work.
Lie on hard bed. Avoid forward bending and lifting heavy weight.
You can take anti inflammatory drug like ibuprofen to relieve pain.
You can consider seeing a spinal specialist and see if with an MRI or CT they can determine any specific pathology of spine causing the pain.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Most of the day I am on my feet. I am only sitting in the evening if I do some computer work-maybe 2 to 5 hours at most. I am retired and this started when we took a trip and went up and down 300 steps and some were uneven steps. I over did it climbing those steps, however, I did stretch before I went walking and used those steps but my legs were really tired and stressed where it was difficult to walk very far and I did do more walking and some steps after those 300 steps. I wondered if the stress of walking up and down steps was too much for my legs and back as this seems to be how all my problems started. I am overweight to begin with and putting the extra stepping didn't help matters any.

Brief Answer:
Can be stress related.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Your back was put to the stress to which it was not used to. This can cause a mild disc prolapse and nerve root compression causing the pain. Sitting for many hours further aggravates it.
Hope my answer is helpful.
