Question: Hi...
I have PCOD. I have gone under 2 cycles of follicle study. The doctor prescribes letrozole from 3rd to 7th day of period. Then rupturing of follicle through injection with susten 200mg for 14 days. But I am getting negative result. What can be the possible reason. I shall be starting with 3rd cycle now which again seems to have same procedure. Is it ok. Or there should be some changes included in treatment

Brief Answer:
Same course can be continued if ovulation has occurred.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for sharing your health concern with us.

I have gone through your query and would like to offer some information.

Usually, a maximum of six ovulation induction cycles are tried after proper pre-assessment. The couple infertility tests include blood counts, urinalyses, semenalysis and male factor identification, tubal patency test, hormone levels and sonogram. Serum DHEAS levels, AMH titers and antral follicular count are other useful tests.

If pre-assessment is not done as per protocol, I suggest that you get it done by a specialist instead of wasting precious ovulatory cycles. Further management can be planned accordingly.

If you have already undergone all the tests and deemed fit for induction and if ovulation is occurring with the prescribed dose, you can continue with the same treatment. Make sure sexual intercourse occurs at least on alternate days during the fertile period.

Hope you find this information helpful. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
