Question: Hi, I am enquiring about my partner. His WBC has been elevated for some time. It was at 10,300 for a couple of weeks and has now risen to 13,200. Neutrophils, basophils and platelets are all elevated. He has been experiencing fatigue and some sweating now and again. I am just wondering if this is indicative of CML? Or could it indicate something less serious? Thank you

Brief Answer:
Infective etiology probably. Detail answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Ask A Doctor

Following is my opinion for your asked question.

Your Partner WBC count elevated slightly.

In case of CML, total wbc count raise more than 50000 at least usually and myeloid premature cells seen in peripheral smear.

In CML, Myelocyte & metamyelocyte like premature cells increased to more than 30% which is not mentioned in your history.

So, It doesn't seems to be CML as of now.

However, you can attach report here with for further discussion.

Hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards

Brief Answer:
Follow up Question. Doesn't seem to be CML.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Ask A Doctor again.

Following is my further opinion for your asked question.

I have seen attached report.

It shows leukocytosis with high Neutrophil.

Basophil elevated slightly.

However, in differential count there is no any premature myeloid cells.

So, it doesn't seem be leukemia.

It could be some form of infection or inflammation induced high WBC.

Hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards
