Hi, I Am 67. For The Last 6-8 Weeks I
Question: Hi,
I am 67. For the last 6-8 weeks I feel a very sharp pain in my right groin, during the ACT of sitting down. Once I am seated no pain. Really no pain (or only very, very minor during the act of standing up). Once I'm up and walking no real discomfort. Only hurts as I begin to sit or bend over and reach down. Carrying a heavy item does not bother me.
I'm symptom free when I wake up in the morning. Tylenol helps a lot and aleve does too, but stopped the aleve as it triggers ear ringing. After an hour or two after waking up, the sharp pain returns but only as I sit down.
No bulge in groin and no bulge when I cough.
Does this seem like Strained groin muscle, hip problem (I easily passed the hip impingement test), hernia. Other?
Thank you

One symptom I forgot to add, that might help.....
If I'm sitting and lift up my right leg to cross it over my left leg, sometimes I get a sharp pain in my right groin as I'm shifting my leg. Once in position the pain is gone.

Brief Answer:
Can be bursitis or osteoarthritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A pain in the groin that you experience in a certain position is likely to be related to bursitis or osteoarthritis of the hip joint. This is not likely to be related to hernia. A strained muscle in the groin also needs to be ruled out. Proper diagnosis needs a direct examination and an MRI scan to detect the soft tissue changes in the area. Till then calcium supplements with mild anti inflammatory medicine should help.
I hope this answers your query.

Thank you.
I have absolutely no stiffness, or joint stiffness or swelling.
Just a stabbing pain as I sit.
While you don't have an image, would that make it more likely to be hip bursitis or groin strain, and NOT osteoarthritis.
Thanks.

More likely to be bursitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Absence of joint stiffness makes it more likely to be due to bursitis or groin strain. Hot compress, local analgesic gel and oral anti inflammatories can help.
