Question: Hello, I have a rash that has broken out on the top of my legs, back of my forearms, and stomach. They look like small razor bumps or acne. I have never had eczema or keratosis pilaris before.

This happened on Sunday, so about 3 full days ago. I noticed it after I came out of the pool and took a hot shower. It started on my arms, then I noticed it on my legs and the sides of my stomach.

Brief Answer:
It looks like keratosis pilaris.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I see the photo you attached and it looks like typical keratosis pilaris rash.
You haven't had it before but it can have its initial onset on early adulthood as of your age.

Also, the typical locations you have on top of legs, upper arms, and stomach are typical for keratosis pilaris.

You have been taking the right treatment of ammonium lactate lotion and prednisone and cortisone cream. Continue them for some days and you will see improvement.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

I am just wondering if you think it can be atopic dermatitis or folliculitis, since it happened so quickly after getting out of a pool.

Brief Answer:
Doesn't seem like folliculitis or atopic dermatitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
If it was folliculitis it can happen in recently shaved skin and in a smaller area than the one you have.
Folliculitis is most of the time red or white pimples, are itchy and sometimes painful.
Atopic dermatitis makes your skin red and brown patches and itchy . The picture you sent me doesn't resemblance to atopic dermatitis or folliculitis.
