Question: Hello I am 39 year old woman who has had multiple head traumas and concussions in the last 9 years The most recent one being a week ago I have been experiencing a lot of confusion and lack of concentration and fuzzy vision at times. I have just had a MRI scan done and I have an extra axial meningioma in right high frontal Parasagittal region. It has grown from 8x7x5mm to 11x10x8mm in 3 years. It is indenting on the underlying right frontal lobe gyrus. They have referred me to a neurosurgeon. Is 1mm a year considered slow growing? What are my options do you think a wait and watch treatment will be recommended?

Brief Answer:
Get it surgically removed

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the detailed history you have given.
Yes, it is slow growing but two main reasons favoring surgery in your case.
1. Persistent symptoms
2. Gradually increase in size of lesion.
So you sh definitely get it remove by surgery.
I will not recommend conservative (wait and watch) option.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Ok thank you so much for your quick reply. I would really like it removed to be honest as I’m worried what effects it will cause down the track. My GP says that headaches aren’t associated with meningiomas. Given the location what problems could it cause if it gets bigger?

I can understand your concern.
It can cause behavior changes, Epilepsy and stroke.
It can also cause raised intracranial pressure related symptoms like meningeal edema, nausea, vomiting etc.
So better to get it removed.
