Hi,

Thanks for posting your query.

There are certain criteria for a person to be diagnosed with Lupus. Few important features will be presence of malar rash that is butterfly like, presence of high titers of XXXXXXX evidence of renal dysfunction and arthritis.

A specific test for SLE will be anti-dsDNA antibody. You can get this test done to rule out the possibility.

Do you have your Thyroid profile and a thyroid ultrasound done anytime? If so, can you please let me know about the reports?

It is good that your lymph node biopsy is normal. May I also know the XXXXXXX titers values?

The pain in your chest about the rib cage and right arm may be due to a muscular cause. Cough may be just an attributing factor to it.

Sweating is a normal phenomenon. Ear pain and sore throat can be due to bacterial throat infection.

Do warm saline water gargling thrice daily for 3 days. Simple analgesics like Tylenol will help you. It is available over the counter in the US.

A family history of cancer does predispose one to develop cancer, but it does not mean that every family member gets it.

You have a feature to upload the reports / image by yourself at the right side of the query page, please utilize that so that I can answer your queries better.

Awaiting your response.

Hi,

Thanks for writing back and giving me the details.

Hypothyroidism can be a possibility in you as you have gained weight in the last year. You need to get fasting thyroid profile done which includes T3, T4 and TSH levels estimation.

The array of tests done on the antibody panel including anti-SSA, anti-SSB LA, anti-sm, anti-RNP are all detected in very low titers. These do not signify SLE in such low titers.

Osteopenia is known to occur at your age owing to calcium depletion. In addition, Hypothyroidism generally causes muscle and joints pain, and generalized weakness.

You may consider taking calcium supplements on a daily basis. It is available over the counter in the US.

Also, get the thyroid profile done as mentioned.

All said; Lupus is again a condition diagnosed clinically. If you can consult a good Rheumatologist, it would be ideal. If the cause is confirmed, steroids will help you.

Please do write back in case you have follow up queries to ask.

Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing back.

Your symptoms suggest a probable Hypothyroidism. I do not think you have Lupus at present. You may repeat the XXXXXXX titer after a year.

Yes, it is better for you to get your fasting thyroid profile done again. I am sorry that you are in pain. Yes, all these can be a part of Hypothyroidism signs.

I wish you get better soon and lead a healthy life.

If you have no more queries, you may accept my answer and write a review.

Take care.
