Hello, XXXXXXX
Thank you for contacting XXXXXXX with your question. You mention
that you were recently hospitalized for food poisoning. There are
different kinds of bacteria and viruses that can produce symptoms
of food poisoning called gastroenteritis. I am assuming that the
doctors at the hospital did do blood and stool tests to find out and
put you on proper medications. Now you are having abdominal
pain after eating food. This may suggest that you still have some
residual inflammation of the lining of the stomach.
You need to be on a bland diet , avoiding spicy foods, excess coffee
or tea or chocolate milk. Avoid fatty, greasy or fried foods.
Avoid tomato based products and excess dairy like whole milk and
cheeses. No alcohol or tobacco products. You can consult your
doctor about taking over the counter Omeprazole tablet once a
day for about 2 weeks if the symptoms persist. Also you may need
additional testing like x-ray studies, repeat stool tests and may
even need endoscopy to rule out ulcers.
I wish you well.
